My Brother’s Keeper is a service program developed with the mission of advocating and improving the quality of life for Sigma Alpha Gamma Military Fraternity, Inc. brothers, their spouses, widowers who are retired, and veterans that have disabilities. Upon identification of need, the My Brother’s Keeper program also assists mature and ailing members of its communities. Limitations caused by advanced age place demands on family members, caregivers, and the larger community to ensure that elders remain independently functional. The goal of the My Brother’s Keeper Program is to promote dignity and independence among Gamma family and veteran community members who need help in keeping their lives and homes functional.

Objectives:

  • Assist in maintaining living environments that are compatible with participants’ levels of functioning

  • Assist in maintaining the upkeep of properties when called upon to do so. This assistance does not entail financial contributions towards the repairs and is more so focused on providing physical labor towards the accomplishment of needed repairs.

  • Assist with ensuring access to health care resources in the form of literature and consultation with health care professionals.

  • Provide companionship when requested during times of grief and despair.

  • Ensure adequate supplies of food, water, and clothing, with special emphasis on disaster management and recovery
